Concept of God
As humans got civilized, they started thinking about God. They observed forces of Nature and thought that there is some power which rules over. Wind power was Vayu devata, rain-varun devata, Fire –Agnidevata, Sun- Surya devata.
It was observed that new creations take place by some power. There is a power that sustains it and growth takes place. There is a power that causes decay and destruction. These powers became Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh. They were given human form . Mythological stories were formed. People started worshiping them. They are thought forms created by human minds.
There is another school of thought. According to them, there are several higher beings above humans. Compared to birds and animals, we, the humans are like Gods in terms of capability, knowledge, power etc.. Above humans are Yaksha, Gandharva, vidyadhar etc. Above them are several Devatas. According to Puranas, there are thirtythree crore Devatas.
According to this school of thought, all devatas are real. God the supreme power allocates them work to run the universe. Just as President or Prime Minister appoints different ministers to handle portfolios like Finance, defence, home etc. God allocates work to different Devatas .
According to another school of thought God, supreme power, Absolute- What ever name you call him is omnipotent, omniscient, omnipresent. He is everywhere, all powerful and knowing all.How come this world came into existence? It must evolve from God himself.,Parabrahma. God first created billions of individual souls- Atmas. He created Mind, Pran ( Basic Energy ) and Akash. Akash does not mean Sky. It is the basic material which is friction less. Under direction of mind Pran acted on Akash. It created different atoms and combinations. .We see matter in the form of solids liquids and gases. Atmas got engulfed in this and became Jivatmas.
It is said that Man is made in the image of God. His physical body is made of different atoms- Carbon, hydrogen etc. His seven chakras located in his astral body supplies Pranic energy to different parts of his body and keep him alive. His mind is a part of cosmic mind created by God. His soul. Atma is from Paramatma.
Now we can understand the Brahma Vakya of Vedant which says
Sarvam khaluidam Brahma—every thing is expression of Brahma.
Aham Brahmasmi, Ayam Atma Brahma- I am, my soul, Atma is Brahma.
Tat tvam Asi -you are also same Brahma.
Next Mahavakya is Brahma satya, Jagat Mithya. Here Mithya does not mean false. It means that the world we experience is relative . It is changing and short lived.
As one makes progress in his Sadhana, spiritual path there is a change in his consciousness. Normally we are aware of three stages- sleeping, waking dreaming. He goes to the next stage- Turiya avastha. When the train of thoughts stop for a moment he realizes him self as soul.
Next state of consciousness may be called as Cosmic consciousness or Divine consciousness. In this one feels the presence of spirit in oneself but also feels the same spirit in everybody. He sees the presence of spirit even in plants and rocks. He feels the animating force of life in all objects of universe. In other words he sees presence of God, Parabrahma in all things. Most of the saints and Yogis remain in this state. They can even talk to animals and plants
The final stage can be called as unity consciousness or universal conciouness.
In this person sees whole world as his own extension.Personal self becomes universal self. THESE TWO STAGES ARE TRUE GOD REALISATIONS. It proves the vedantic principles of Aham Bramhasmi and Sarvam Khaluidam Bramha.
