Build bridges of peace not war
Build bridges of peace not war
Wars have always destroyed the stability of life throughout the history of the world. This is happening in the Middle East and between India, Pakistan and targeted violence in Jammu and Kashmir.
We suggest the following to bring in peace
1. Diplomatic Engagement
-
Involving international bodies like the United Nations (UN) or regional organizations such as the Arab League in the middle east and Women’s Initiative for peace in South Asia (WIPSA) in Asia may help
2. Addressing Security Concerns
-
Iran's nuclear program is a key source of tension. This needs to be addressed. In the Indian subcontinent, illegal occupation of territory needs to be resolved by both India and Pakistan.
3. Reducing Proxy Conflicts
-
Iran’s support for Hezbollah in Lebanon, various militias in Iraq, and Hamas in Gaza should be addressed in the Middle East and terrorism needs to be addressed in the Indo-Pak region.
4. Economic Cooperation and Incentives
-
Economic Sanctions Relief for Iran could encourage Iran to pursue peaceful solutions over military confrontation. Terrorism in the Indian subcontinent can be reduced through economic ties.
5. Engaging the International Community
-
Diplomatic initiatives from all nations could be initiated .
6. Cultural and Ideological Dialogues
-
Civil society organizations, religious leaders, and academics can be involved in dialogues.
7. Building Confidence and Transparency
-
All relevant countries could engage in small, incremental steps like transparency in military exercises and/or avoiding provocative actions in contested regions.
8. Humanitarian and Environmental Cooperation
-
Cooperation on shared environmental challenges, like water scarcity or climate change can be explored.
Geopolitics and consequent tensions are caused by human beings and world peace is also facilitated by human beings. Let us choose the latter to leave a better world for our children.
