"The one thing that can solve most of our problems is dancing.” These words by legendary American musician James Brown holds the simple key to most of our dilemmas. Probably this very thought prompted the launch of Creative Movement Therapy Association of India (CMTAI), to help you explore your feelings better and to develop a better mind-body connection.

A CID-UNESCO partner, CMTAI conducted a grand launch of the first umbrella organisation for creative movement therapy in India on March 29, 2014, at the Civil Services Officer’s Institute, New Delhi. The event was attended by a number of significant people namely Bharat Sharma, Director, Bhoomika Dance Academy; Rashi Bijlani, Director, Consultant Dance Movement; Psychotherapist, Sara Owem, a UK-registered dance therapist and Neetu Sarin, Assistant Professor, Dr. B R Ambedkar University. They inaugurated the organisation by unveiling CMTAI metaphors ‘Move. Express. Transform.’ The organisation promotes the use of creative movement therapy, also known as dance movement therapy, to benefit all segments of society. The event kicked off with Tripura Kashyap, a veteran Movement Therapist and Facilitator in India, introducing the journey, importance and scope of CMT around the globe as well as its increasing need and intervention in India. CMTAI officially inaugurated its programme modules for diverse groups such as Dance in Education, Gender Sensitisation through Movement, Dance for Well-Being, Movement for Self-Awareness, Training through Movement for Teachers and Facilitators and Release through Movement for Caregivers. CMTAI also announced its first annual Aikya International Conference - An Outer Expression of Inner Reality - to be held on November 8, 2014, in New Delhi. The conference will be open to NGOs, corporations, educational institutions, individuals and groups interested in exploring creative movement therapy.
