Happiness is a habit

Happiness - Gain & Retain, Just Win Singh, Published By: Viva Books, Pages: 141 pages, Price: Rs 195
We all see happiness as something that has to be obtained, a complicated web of self-righteousness, luxury and personal gratification. But can’t happiness exist by itself, no strings attached? Just Win Singh, a corporate trainer and founder of the Institute of Happiness in Vadodara, says yes.
Just Win Singh portrays happiness as a habit, something we incorporate into our routine, which stays with us in all situations. Happiness should not be our reaction to an achievement or a result; it should be a state of mind from where we operate throughout the day. What he is trying to teach here is that happiness lies within us, and is solely dependent on us to bring it out. We are the creators of our emotions, not the other way around.
Our happiness depends on the way we do things. For instance, rushing through your day will leave you exhausted and irritable. Or blaming others for not being the way you want them to be will create bitterness. Changing things inside our self pushes these negative states away and attracts happiness in. Accordingly, our state of mind will shift from clinging and blaming to being responsible, grateful, forgiving and compassionate. These qualities don’t come just by reading the book, you need to practice them. That’s where the Action Plan at the end of each chapter comes in, allowing the reader to move from thought to word to action. He also mentions the importance of how our thoughts affect us. Thinking loving thoughts of yourself will allow you to love yourself, while thinking about hate will only result in hate toward yourself.
The simple language allows people of any age to read and practice the book. With happiness being the ultimate goal for all, this book gives direction to those starting off on the path. It preaches and gives you space for the practice which makes it very effective.
