Happy birthday Louise

It was an evening to remember. On October 7th, about 380 Heal Your Life teachers and fans gathered in the Rangsharda auditorium, Mumbai, to celebrate their teacher, Louise L. Hay’s 90th birthday. The grand old lady of holistic healing, whose book, You Can Heal Your Life, has sold over 39 million copies and been translated into 30 languages, has been responsible for releasing a tidal wave of goodness, hope and healing into the firmament. No wonder she was at the receiving end of so much gratitude and appreciation. The event was masterminded by Heal Your life teachers, Deval Doshi and Sunil Shah, under the aegis of their organisation, Love Heals.
The evening began with Deval reading out Louise’s candid and courageous narration of her life, which included horrific instances of physical and sexual abuse culminating in giving birth to a child at the age of 16. It was through this thorny path that she walked to her present role as a premier healer and founder of Hay House, one of the world’s largest publishing houses. This was followed by a film on Louise Hay and a summation of her philosophy. A great takeaway was learning the four statements she affirms in challenging times, “All is well in my world”.” “Only good will come out of this”. “I am safe” and “I love and approve of myself”.
This was followed by various Heal Your Life teachers talking about different aspects of her philosophy, such as the mind-body connection, loving yourself, gratitude, and forgiveness. The session on mind-body connection was conducted by Deval, a physician, who shared how this knowledge had helped her broaden her understanding of healing, and had also healed her of a migraine.
The highlight of the event was the segment on forgiveness conducted by Chennai-based GL Sampoorna, who jointly anchors the Train the Trainer programmes for Heal Your Life. We were taught two simple and effective processes to forgive.
In the first, we visualise the person we would like to forgive standing in the spotlight of a stage being showered by an abundance of blessings. Next, we visualise ourselves going through the same process.
In the second, we say. “‘I forgive so and so for such and such. The person in question then says, “Thank you. I set you free.” The evening ended with the Heal Your Life teachers going up on stage and singing a song on loving oneself. After those positive doses, that did not seem a hard task at all.
