Magical power of emotions

Magical power of emotions

On the path to spirituality many a novice makes the mistake of playing down or suppressing these ‘negative’ emotions and consciously trying to focus only on happiness.

A workshop aimed at presenting an indepth insight of our hidden emotions and bringing forth the realisation of how much of our past was still alive in our present was held by the Chrysalis Healing Foundation on October 31, 2009. It was conducted by Dr Poorvi Mittal, a holistic medicine practitioner, clinical hypnotherapist and past-life regression therapist, and Manju Grover, a theta healer and hypnotherapist.

The first presentation acquainted the participants to the truth of the human body being an extension of the universe as a whole. It communicated how each of us carries the universe within us in the form of the elements. It explained that loving oneself is one of the most potent ways to heal the universe in one’s own way.

A second presentation brought out the role of human emotions – both positive and negative. Poorvi correlated extreme emotions as simply being the other side of the same coin. The participants were guided through discussions and self-exploration exercises to help them better understand the duality of every powerful emotion. Rage is the downward movement of love, while grief balances happiness. One could not be experienced wholly without the other.

When people have emotional outbursts, often it has nothing to do with the other person. Such is the strong interconnectedness of our pasts with our present, that the inherent rage or grief is actually caused by some incident of the past, the unpleasant memory of which has been triggered by some word or some action. A hypnotherapy session conducted by Manju, consisted of letting us regress back into our childhood and even visualising our parents as children. Participants were then taught to heal their past hurts and learn forgiveness to truly let go of the past and walk into a present that was free from pain. The core message learned was that ‘the key to healing our wounded perceptions and our wounded lives is to get clear and honest in our emotional responses.’
