Morning Lessons

Morning Lessons

November 2007

Morning is the best time of the day. As the night rests, the day wakes up to activities of a different kind.

As I step out for my morning whiff of fresh, crisp oxygen, I come across a whole lot of people hungry too for their quota of pure oxygen. It is the time when everyone is bathed in the purest glory of morning, and greets the other with bonhomie. One sees serene and happy faces wreathed in cheerful smiles. The competitive, the arrogant, the stressed-out, rarely emerge out at this hour. Surely Mother Earth must be happiest at this hour of the day.

If only this utopia would last through the day. On one corner of the park people are clapping their hands to boost their flagging spirit with renewed zeal; on the other side are joggers, and walkers of all ages ranging from 10 to 90, laughing and talking. Yoga practitioners are out as well, intent on perfecting their poses.

It is the time when splendrous nature reveals its masterpieces: leaves with their glossy green sway joyfully in the breeze, freshly blossomed flowers in their colourful hues smile, the restless breeze brings the fragrance of the freshly blossomed day's potpourri.

From far away come the sound of temple bells; yes, God in his magical way sends blessings to all. The sun emerges and turns the darkened haze of dawn to golden amber, reminding all of us to kickstart the day with renewed energies and hope. Taking a cue, I too remind my husband to cheer up and start the day with renewed hope, as he has been ailing for a long time. Yes, it's time to rejuvenate, celebrate the emergence of another day. What you have lost yesterday cannot be bigger than what you will gain today.
