Salvestrol, the life savior
August 2013
Cancer is one of the biggest health scares in the world today, striking terror in every heart. Therefore any indication that it can be averted or even defeated is worth exploring.

Red fruits are vital sources of salvestrol Nutrition-based anti-cancer strategies that kill cancer cells and boost immunity, are now increasingly gaining central ground. The most promising ones are intravenous and/or mega doses of Vitamin C and salvestrols. We are already familiar with Vitamin C, but salvestrols are not as well known. They are a group of naturally occurring plant compounds present in certain fruits and vegetables. Discovered in 1998, they were a result of the combined research of Professor Dan Burke, a pharmacologist, and Professor Gerry Potter, Professor of Medicinal Chemistry and Director of the Cancer Drug Discovery Group at Leicester’s De Montfort University. Salvestrols contain substances which can be changed by an enzyme, present in both pre-cancerous and cancerous cells, to produce a toxic chemical which brings about ‘cell death’ and therefore destroys the cancer cells. Salvestrols are also highly selective and only active in cancer cells, hence, are non-toxic to other cells.
There are foods termed as ‘anti-cancer’ because of these natural compounds present, like broccoli, cabbages, cauliflower, spinach, lettuces, watercress, green beans, broad beans, garden peas, artichokes (globe), red and yellow peppers, bean sprouts, celery, salad rocket, avocado, pumpkins, squashes, gourds, zucchini, cucumbers, melons and gherkins. Also, all red fruits such as strawberries, raspberries, grapes, plums, black currants, red currants, blackberries, blueberries, mulberries, cranberries carry them, apart from apples, pears and pineapples. Herbs such as parsley, sage, rosemary, basil and mint are also helpful. Green tea, garlic and red wine also contain salvestrols.
The best thing is that they can be done alongside conventional approaches. They improve the odds substantially, reducing the side-effects of conventional medication on immunity and the stomach lining. So, the next time you go out shopping, do make sure to bring home some salvestrols.
