Healing with Homeopathy, Author: Dr Mukesh Batra, Published By: Jaico Books, Pages: 568, Rs. 395
Healing with Homeopathy by Dr Mukesh Batra is an immensely readable book which gives delightful insights into his life and work, and his battle to make homeopathy acceptable in India since 1973. On a parallel track, it also chronicles the battle waged by the founder of homeopathy, Samuel Hahnermann, to establish it as an acceptable remedy at a time when medical practices were largely interventional, bloody and violent. The otherwise savvy Dr Batra unequivocally condemns allopathy and the gigantic pharma and health industry, which he says are there to make the sick more sick, introduce more and more illnesses and their subsequent cures, for the sake of profit.
Dr Batra elaborates that unlike an allopath, a good homeopath will ascertain a patient’s physical, mental and psychological history to be able to prescribe a medicine that will both control the symptoms and cure the disease. To gain recognition, Dr Batra’s clinics started computerising records as early as 1982 and storing the before and after treatment pictures to illustrate their success stories.
Homeopathy does not believe in animal testing because animals do not provide subjective or emotional or mental symptoms, the bedrock of homeopathic prescription.
The book goes on to debunk several myths related to homeopathy; the foremost being that it is just a sugar pill and that it cannot work together with allopathy. According to Dr Batra, homeopathy can actually treat serious illnesses and diseases by correcting the underlying cause.
