Alternative medicine treats the cause

The Indian Forum for Alternative Medicine and Holistic Health Sciences (IFAMHHS) held their first International Conference on Alternative Medicine and Holistic Health Sciences on May 23-24, 2009, at the Lala Lajpat Rai College, Mumbai. This two-day conference had many practitioners speaking about the treatments they offered. It also had many stalls exhibiting various healing devices.
The treatments included acupressure, acupuncture, colour therapy, electro-homeopathy, naturopathy, cow therapy, rechak kriya, spinal yoga, colloidal silver treatment, reiki, hypnotherapy, astrology, Falun Dafa,yoga, meditation, pyramid therapy, feng shui, vaastu, magnet therapy, and ozone therapy. Each speaker explained how effective their method is and cited a few cases where conventional treatment had been given up and alternative treatment had completely cured the patient. Alternative medicine comes in where conventional medicine fails. Where conventional medicine treats only the symptoms, alternative medicine treats the cause.
Conventional medicine treats by consumption of, or exposure to harmful substances; alternative medicine treats by extremely natural, minimally invasive, and harmless techniques. The healers cited miraculous cures of serious cancer, paralysis, and even HIV through simple and harmless treatment, making one wonder why we don’t embrace them more whole-heartedly.
Various stalls at the conference displayed their products used for healing. A variety of products for acupressure was on display. Bio-energy optimiser bracelets that balance the positive and negative energies in the body, colloidal silver electrolysis machine and electro-homeopathy medicine were also on display. The conference was successful in bringing about awareness of such a vast variety of alternative treatments. With thoughts of a second conference being held next year, we seem to be inching toward a future where conventional and alternative medicine will blend to cure.
